Educational implications

Communication difficulties cover a very wide range of different issues to widely varying degrees. The ability of learners to respond and to take part in collaborative activities will be affected. The development of language may be affected owing to the lack of practice.

Learners will invariably be isolated from their peers by their difficulty, and proactive means will be necessary to reduce side-effects of the kind of isolation.
